National board representative: Nancy Ngo
AAJA friends,
For the past few years, I’ve represented the Minnesota chapter on the national board and would be honored to do so for another term.
Before becoming the national board representative, I was president of the Minnesota chapter from 2003 to 2005 and, before that, vice president of print. I’ve seen AAJA through several Taste of AAJAs, professional development programs, conventions and other pursuits.
I feel that time spent has allowed me to understand with depth our organization and needs of our chapter members. There’s still much work to be done as AAJA national looks to revise its membership policies, explore alternative funding sources, plan how our future conventions will look like and more.
I would love to have the opportunity to be that bridge between what chapter members want and work toward making that happen on the national level. I hope you will consider me a worthy candidate for AAJA Minnesota’s national board representative. Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Nancy Ngo

Chapter vice president: Delane Cleveland
I was first introduced to AAJA back in 2002. Back then, I was a young college student trying to figure out whether I wanted to pursue a career in print or broadcasting. I was fortunate enough to land an internship with the Pioneer Press during the spring semester of 2003 thanks to AAJA. The experience was invaluable because it helped me realize that broadcasting should be my chosen path.
Since then, I've become a professional journalist and moved around the country, making stops in South Dakota and Arizona. During that time, AAJA has provided me with numerous workshops to help me become a better reporter. My involvement with the organization has also allowed me to meet people from across the nation who have helped me grow both personally and professionally.
Now, I'd like to give back by formally announcing my candidacy to be vice president of AAJA's Minnesota chapter.
Since I moved back to Minnesota a year ago, I have wanted to get more involved with the day-to-day operations of the chapter. Something I'd like to organize as a member of the AAJA board is a packet for graduating college students (who are involved with AAJA) that lets them know what resources AAJA, both locally and nationally, can provide in the professional world (i.e. workshops, grants, mentorship opportunities, etc).
On a similar note, I would like to see similar packets distributed to AAJA members who relocate to Minnesota for work. What better way to welcome someone to our fair state than by saying "Thanks for coming. We're here for you."
Another goal of mine would be to use my multimedia journalism background to put together videos that highlight our programs for use on the chapter website. Becoming more intimately involved with the chapter's activities will help me accomplish that task.
If anyone has any questions, they are welcome to contact me via email at [email protected]
Thank you for considering my candidacy.
